ELECT HON. REV. MICHAEL BLAKE

for DNC VICE CHAIR of Civic Engagement & Voter Participation

So Long As working people,

rural and urban communities, young people, people of faith, Black and Brown people, and people who have felt left out of the conversation don't feel that we are being listened to and empowered, we do not build the party or policies that strengthen America. So long as DNC Members believe that the national party isn’t providing enough on the ground messaging, data and mobilization training for state parties we do not have a strategy that wins elections. And so long as we are supporting or electing candidates who have a hard time explaining why people should vote for us and not just be against the Republicans, we risk losing ground on the rights and progress we fought long and hard for. I am running for Vice Chair of Civic Engagement and Voter Participation to help us develop and execute a new way forward.

We must support Civic Engagement and Voter Participation all of the time, not just for a Presidential election, but for down ballot races and working with people who rely on us as champions.

So Long As…

“So long as there is one child without milk, so long as there is one family without a decent home, so long as there are aged persons without pensions, working mothers without fair wages, struggling farmers without income, so long as there are overcrowded schools, inadequate hospitals and families on relief, so long will the need for the Democratic Party continue – and so long will we be called upon to assume the responsibilities of leadership.”

- John F. Kennedy

MichaeL’s proven track record

as a Leader for the Democratic pARTy

Michael Blake was DNC Vice Chair and part of a leadership team that won state and local races, the House, the Senate, and elected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris President and Vice President in 2020. We won because we invested in state parties, better data, consistent surrogates and being everywhere all of the time. Blake has traveled to 31 states and Japan since the 2017 DNC election,  supporting candidate trainings and creating Get Out The Vote strategies in base communities across the country.

Blake is running for Vice Chair of Civic Engagement and Voter Participation because we must change the ways we reach and connect with voters, and invest in party members on the ground. That's how we win!

Our Party Our PromisE

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Schoolhouse Rock 2.0 for all voters, especially in High Schools, Colleges, Under 30

We instill the benefits of democracy for people to learn at an early age, fostering political literacy through mentorship and educational platforms that speak to them. Partnering with innovators and creators to capture the attention and insights of young people based on the world they live in today.

Disinformation and Misinformation Team

We establish a qualified team with the resources to combat misinformation and disinformation, uncovering the truth when others try to drown it out for personal gain. We use these tools to streamline messaging so our platform and promise ring true and are more prominent in people’s minds.

Dedicated Infrastructure for Civic Engagement and Voter Protection in Battleground States

Leadership in the field ensures every vote for our party is mobilized and protected against political and legal challenges, as well as misinformation and disinformation. In addition to the battleground states, we need to be proactive in stemming the tide where we saw losses and identifying opportunities in locations we’ve given up on to remind people, with our shared values, why and how we support them.

Mentorship Program for Young Men of Color & So You Want to Lead for Young Women of Color

Fostering civic engagement and political literacy year-round to disrupt disconnection from participating in democracy, as well as enhanced training and development for those seeking to step up and lead in real time.

Fraternity & Sorority Engagement

We go further to organize on and off college campuses—in campus clubs, fraternities, and sororities—to get out the vote. Moreover, we must leverage the alumni membership of these and other civic organizations to better prepare, inform and engage year round at the local, state and national levels.

Caucus & Working-Class Alignment

We strive to invest in mobilizing communities of color and working people in hard-to-reach and underserved areas. Listening more and standing shoulder to shoulder on core issues that support workers and people who have felt left behind.

Get in the Game on Gamer Engagement Strategies

We engage influencers, creators, and gamers, viewing them as partners in preserving and enriching our country’s democracy.

Sports and Entertainment

Given the continued cross section of sports and entertainment having a presence in our lives, amplifying our party’s values by cultivating thoughtful partnerships in industries with the greatest reach to connect with rural, Black, Brown, Indigenous, and working-class people.

Continued Conversations: Using new media and communication platforms to directly reach voters where they consume information

We must have a CONTINUED CONVERSATION strategy with voters. With 93 out of the top 100 shows last year being NFL football games, along with an increased viewership on streaming platforms and equally heightened direct communication channels ie: WhatsApp groups, we must work with DNC Members on how to consistently and creatively engage with voters, even when it doesn’t pertain to an election.

New and Fresh Strategy for Faith Mobilization

We work alongside faith leaders who uphold hope, joy, and forgiveness aligned with our party’s values as the unbreakable tenets of a healthy community. Establishing a year round commitment to seek counsel, engaging in the many ways they serve those most in need to those most capable to lead.

Focus Groups and Polling

We analyze voting and voter participation trends through numbers and story telling to understand how everyday people feel, to understand and demonstrate that Donald Trump going to a barbershop doesn't show that he gets it—but that Black and Latino men voting less for us shows that they think we don’t get it either.

Coordinated Calendar planning and implementation with DNC Members and state parties

Working backwards from all election dates, we will have dedicated staffers working with your in state members to determine an Integrated voting and mobilization plan where we understand what resources you need and when, with an expected bi-weekly check in on the progress of support and plans, monthly strategy sessions and quarterly realignment so that you know that you have a national presence engaged in supporting you, as opposed to hoping for late help to come, especially if you are not in a “Battleground” state or district.
